For a KingAir 350, which is used for weather research flights in Africa, we developed a bracket to be safely adhered to the wing. The bracket was supposed to carry a 30kg probe plus the drop shaped pylon should preferably not impair the aerodynamics. The component is manufactured in CFK monocoque architecture in a CNC milled mold. It is made of 100% carbon fiber and has to withstand very high loads which are caused by the probe. Meanwhile two of these pylon shaped brackets are flying, one of them with NASA.
DG AeroTEC was responsible for the aerodynamic layout and the structural calculations. The CAD data to create the CNC milled molds were as well realized by our company.
